Experiential Science Education - Yanayacu, Ecuador 2010
Dr. Greg Brown
Hometown: Laramie, WyomingUniversity/Department: University of Wyoming: Botany
Why did you decide to go on the Yanayacu Research Trip? I wanted to see the location, I was committed to teaching the course and I needed to scout the area for future projects. What was the most important thing you learned? That there are bears here. I saw spectacled bear scat! The bromeliad flora is less diverse than I expected. I believe that it might be because of the lack of open habitat for seed because of the nonvascular plant load. How has this experience changed you? I hasn't.What are your plans for the future? I want to develop new projects for this area. I will get permits and do some collecting. What advice would you give a young scientist? Develop a passion and work hard!If you would like to ask Dr. Brown a question about science please send him an email at: [email protected]
